City of Niagara Falls Memorial Tree Program

The Niagara Falls Memorial Tree Program enables people to give new life to their memories by planting a tree.  The legacy established by the planting of a tree can be for any reason, including celebrating a special occasion, birthdays, anniversaries or a special thank you.  In honoring a person or event, not only do you pay thoughtful tribute to the memory of a friend, relative, or associate, but you will also provide a benefit to the community.

Trees provide food and shelter for wildlife, beauty for all those who pass, and mark a special memorial for a loved one.  A memorial plaque will be placed at the base of the tree.  Whether the reason is intimate or public, this visible reminder will provide shade and beauty for future generations to enjoy.

Memorial trees may be planed on most publicly owned property.   The following locations are suggested for the planting of memorial trees:

  • Hyde Park (Seniors/Duck Island, Hyde Park Walking Path, Rose Garden)

  • Griffon Park

  • Riverview Trail

  • LaSalle Waterfront Park
